Why planes arent fitted with a parachute/multiple parachutes for engine failure and other problems?

there's not parachutes on a plane because the chance of a plane crash is 5% and parachutes have to be inspected all the time its impractical. To put explosives on a plane creates more problems than it will fix and if you took off a wing you would fall faster.
