Does my boxer need another playmate?

so my mom has two boxers. both female. ones the mom and the younger one the daughter. well the daughter is very active and sorta hyper. so when the mom sits on the couch and the younger one wants to play she'll bark. and the mom will just continue to sit there and ignore her daughter. so my question is, should we get the younger one another playmate? what would be a good playmate?
